MTC Walk-A-Puller: Battery Changer – Forklift and Industrial Batteries – Exponential Power
The MTC Walk-A-Puller (WBP) is a portable battery changer that is ideal for small fleets that require 20 to 40 battery changes per day. Walk-A-Puller accommodates fleets with a variety of compartment sizes up to 27 inches. Examples include low profile AGV batteries to high capacity turret trucks and counter balance trucks.
The Walk-A-Puller combines its own power and drive unit, carriage assembly and attachment system to give you a portable, but complete, heavy-duty battery handler. The unit’s ease of operation allows qualified forklift operators to safely and easily change their own forklift batteries.
The adjustable extraction arm allows easy access to batteries over wide outriggers. The retracted reach of the extraction arm is 6.75″ and it is adjustable in 1″ increments up to a maximum reach of 11.75″.
Forklifts that require conversion to allow for side extraction, slide strips and roller systems are available from Exponential Power. We also offer a magnetic extraction option.

The only way to know if your stationary batteries will perform to specification is to test them regularly.
NERC standard PRC-005-2 requires that vented lead acid and nickel cadmium (NiCd) systems be discharge tested every six years and valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries every three years. IEEE recommends load testing stationary flooded/vented lead acid and NiCd stationary batteries every five years and VRLA batteries every 12–18 months.
The SBS-2415S constant current load banks are an affordable way to perform easy and accurate IEEE450 (vented lead acid), IEEE1106 (NiCd) and IEEE1188 (VRLA) load tests.
These units are quick and easy to set up. They display the voltage, current and Ah removed from the string during the test. Since this is a constant current load bank, the user also does not have to adjust the current during the test.
These load banks come standard with multiple adjustable stop points and built-in protection to ensure that the batteries are never damaged due to over-discharge.
Built-in memory continuously records discharge data including: overall system voltage, current and individual cell voltages (when modules are installed).

Saft’s new Compact range of maintenance-free nickel batteries for industrial backup can be fitted in the same footprint and share charging protocols as lead-acid batteries. As a result, operators can upgrade to nickel technology in their existing cabinets and immediately improve reliability and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
The Compact nickel battery systems are directly compatible with valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery chargers. Normally, nickel batteries require a boost charge to reach a fully charged state. However, the new Compact Ni-Cd range requires only a single step charging voltage of 1.39 Volts per cell. This makes it possible to use them as a direct drop-in replacement for existing VRLA batteries. This development builds on Saft’s successful introduction of similar innovative features in its Uptimax nickel battery solutions.
