Heat shrink fiber optic splice protectors, commonly known as “smouv” thermo protectors, are made of a stainless steel reinforcement rod, a hot melt tube and cross-linked polyolefin.
Their use allows the fiber coating to be reconstructed to provide mechanical strength in splice trays and retain optical transmission properties.
