- 25-watt heating element plugs into a standard 110 VAC 3-prong outlet and has 4-foot cord
- Suitable for optical fiber diameters up to 1.5 mm
For many applications, such as lighting and model making, “hot knifing” the end of a plastic optical fiber is entirely adequate and saves a lot of time compared to cutting and hand polishing. It is used like a soldering iron or wood burning tool. The 25-watt heating element plugs into a standard 110 VAC 3-prong outlet and has 4-foot cord. Replacement cutting blades are standard X-ACTO™ type and are available from any hobby, hardware or tool store. Suitable for optical fiber diameters up to 1.5mm. For larger diameters, use the Heavy Duty Hot Knife.
