The new FIS Single Mode OTDR (1310/1550nm) is the perfect handheld testing device for a range of fiber optic applications. With an OTDR dynamic range of 26dB it can test and measure up to 90km (approx. 55 miles) of fiber at 1550nm. It also has an on-board Visual Fault Locator, Power Meter, Light Source; having the capability of an all-in one optical loss test set (OLTS). The mini-OTDR stores files in the very commonly used .SOR format and comes with reporting software that will print large batches of OTDR scans into professional, easy to read PDF reports.
Whats also easy to read is our user friendly graphical mapping software called “œgMAP”. This software takes the OTDR scan and breaks it down into an easy to read set of icons; displaying the specific type of event being detected (splice, mated connector, bend, etc.) and the important details of all events on the fiber (distance, dB loss, reflection, etc.). This alternative OTDR scan allows even the most inexperienced user to easily interpret the information needed to identify, troubleshoot and verify the important characteristics of a fiber optic cable installation.
